This book is a bit spendy but I'm still glad I purchased it. In my
opinion it's a must read. Jestine is good at getting right to the main
points you need to understand about troubleshooting this kind of power
supply and its associated feedback circuits. Since a majority of the
problems I have seen on LCD TVs are related to bad power supplies I
figured it will pay for itself many times over. Most of the book was
easy reading with plenty of pictures and diagrams. ======================================== Testing electronic components and finding unknown resistor values by Jestine Yong. http://5d8388ioop4nfm862d1b0u7sbj.hop... I
have not yet read Jestines book on Testing electronic components but I
was told it's a good one for a person just starting out in electronic
troubleshooting. ======================================== How to repair LCD Computer Monitors by Jestine Yong at http://davestv.jestinewilliamlcd.clic... Even
though this book was about computer monitor repair I found most of the
troubleshooting techniques he demonstrates also applied to LCD TV repair
so I was glad to have read it. Much like the book on Switch Mode Power
Supplies it was easy to read and similar to Johns Prehers book on LCD
repair but in Jestines own style. It had lots of pictures and good
troubleshooting techniques. ======================================== Mikes TV case histories The latest paperback edition has 1300 case histories on LCD, CRT, Plasma and Projection TVs. at http://www.mikestvtips.com/ 1-410-272-4984 When
I first started in the TV repair business and my troubleshooting skills
were not that great often times Mike's case histories told me exactly
which parts I needed to replace and it often saved me from having to
purchase a great many schematics. I have been using his case histories
since 1995 and I would not be with out them. If you call him please be

which parts he replaced to get them going. I found this ebook was
helpful in better understanding the connection between certain symptoms
and their causes. Right now it's only 10 dollars. ======================================== Getting Started In Electronics by Forest Mims available at some Radio Shacks or through this link. http://www.Forrestmims.com If

In this video I demonstrate the value of a watt meter and how you can
use a variac to help you test voltage regulators. I also talk about the
serious potential of damaging sensitive electronic components from an

How to troubleshoot and repair switch mode power supplies by Jestine Yong at http://davestv.jestinemichellepow.cli...
This book is a bit spendy and unless you do this as a profession it's
probably hard for most people to understand why anyone would pay so much
for an ebook. Nevertheless since TV repair is my business I can

kind of power supply and its associated feedback circuits. Since a

I would like to say that if you are havinga problem with your TV be sure to check themodel number first. The model number appearsin this little box over here. Every TV isdifferent, this is a Sony LCD TV but you willsee the model number and serial number overin a box like this. The model number are veryimportant because that is what will help youto identify what parts are needed to repairyour TV. If you are having a problem withyour TV, please feel free to comment in thecomments section below this video or sendus a message on YouTube with your TV modelnumber and the problem that you are having. This way we will be able to help you diagnosethe problem and suggest a fix. So the firstthing you are going to want todo is make sure you have unplugged your TVfrom any power source and that you have alsogrounded yourself properly. Next you willwant to take out the screws in the TV thatare holding the back cover on it. Every backcover of at TV is different but most are heldin by screws and can be easily removed. Sowe have removed all of the screws here onthe back of the TV, now we are just goingto remove this back panel.Over here we have the backlight inverter, this part can often be covered by a metalor plastic cover so you may have to take outsome screws to get to this part if you aregoing to replace it. The backlight inverteris what controls your CCFLs or your lightsource for the TV. The backlight inverteragain takes the power from the power supplyand turns on the lights that supply the lightfor your TV. The backlight inverter is typicallyconnected to the panel and you will want tobe extrememly careful when you are removingany of these pieces. There are different typesof connections from the backlight inverterto the panel and typically most are fragile. Some common problems with the backlight inverter. So if you turn on your TV and you see yourimage show up on the screen for a second andthen the screen goes black it could be yourbacklight inverter that is causing this problem. So if you have sound coming from your TV butyou don't have an image it could also be thebacklight inverter that is causing this problem.Thank you for watching our LCD video.Again, just a reminder that if you have anyissues with your TV and you can't quite figureout the problem, feel free to comment belowthis video in the comment section and tryand be sure to include your TV model number, possibly the serial number and any symptomsor problems that your TV is displaying.
