this TV Listed below are some good resources for anyone interested in learning more about electronics repair. How to troubleshoot and repair Switch Mode Power supplies by Jestine Yong at http://davestv.jestinemichellepow.cli...
This book is a bit spendy but nevertheless it's the best book I have
ever read on switch mode power supplies. Because Jestine works as a
repair technician he is good at getting right to the main points we need
to understand about this kind of power supply rather than just being
good at general theory.
Since a majority of the problems I have seen
on LCD TVs are related to bad power supplies this is one book I highly
recommend. Most of the book was easy reading with plenty of pictures and
diagrams. ======================================== Testing electronic components and finding unknown resistor values by Jestine Yong. http://5d8388ioop4nfm862d1b0u7sbj.hop... This

you see me repairing in this video is a Polaroid TDA03211C I have also
seen an almost identical power supply in a brand called Element. The
parts I replaced in this TV were Two N channel Mosfets. location was Q17
AND Q18 Both part numbers were FQPF9N50CF. The location of the
electrolytic capacitors is EC17 AND EC18 both were 10 MF at 450 volts.
Note. on some models they use Mylar capacitors which may not be bad.
Their location is C72 & C73. The blown fuse was located next to the
largest capacitor on the power supply board was location F2. It's a
3.16 amp fuse. It may be tricky to spot because its a glass fuse covered
in green plastic which makes it look like a resistor. Fuse F1 was okay
in this case. This power supply often has a bad Diode which can
contribute to problems. Its location is D10 someone suggested ECG 576
might be a good replacement for this diode but I have not verified their
suggestion. A word of caution. Many people who have this same power
supply have mistakenly assumed the large 150 mf 450 volt capacitor is
bad just because the plastic on it top is bulge from heat and air
pressure.

many of the same principles apply. It also shows me demonstrating the
value of using hold back lights to help you determine if your inverter

probably hard for most people to understand why anyone would pay so much

Finding bad solder connections is generally an easy thing to do when you
have a good magnifying glass and a trained eye, but for someone just
starting out doing electronic repair they may fail to realize that tiny
little crack they can barely see is enough to make a Television quit
working. Unfortunately my camera was not able to show the detail I had
hoped it would but I think this video will still give you a general idea

Many
times bad capacitors can be momentarily restored to their normal
capacity with the use of heat. This will not work if your capacitor is
internally shorted or to dried out.. My demonstration is not meant to
encourage the use of a hair dryer in place of a good capacitor tester
but it can be helpful in doing a quick estimate.

I would like to say that if you are havinga problem with your TV be sure to check themodel number first. The model number appearsin this little box over here. So the firstthing you are going to want todo is make sure you have unplugged your TVfrom any power source and that you have alsogrounded yourself properly. Next you willwant to take out the screws in the TV thatare holding the back cover on it. Every backcover of at TV is different but most are heldin by screws and can be easily removed. Sowe have removed all of the screws here onthe back of the TV, now we are just goingto remove this back panel.Over here we have the backlight inverter, this part can often be covered by a metalor plastic cover so you may have to take outsome screws to get to this part if you aregoing to replace it. The backlight inverteris what controls your CCFLs or your lightsource for the TV. The backlight inverteragain takes the power from the power supplyand turns on the lights that supply the lightfor your TV. month I finally got round to replacing my 6 year old Sony LCD TV with a
new Smart TV. I picked up a Samsung 8 Series Smart TV, the catchy
titled UE55ES8000. The TV is a 55" LED Smart TV and has all the expected
features of a Smart TV including apps, 3D and a Freeview HD tuner. Here
is my video review of the TV.
I am using the TV connected up to
my Sky+ box, Media Center PC and my Xbox all of which I connected up via
HDMI , as the TV has three HDMI ports I could bin my old HDMI switcher
which was causing me a lot of grief. The picture quality is absolutely
fantastic, the colours are very rich and I could really see a difference
in the refresh rate over the old Sony TV.
With the TV you get
two remotes, one of them the traditional style remote and the other
designed to control the smart TV features as it has a touch pad on it.
You can control the TV with only your hands as it has Kinect style hand
control which works surprisingly well but for me you can't beat using a
traditional remote control. Voice commands are also available but to be
honest I am happy sticking to the standard remote.
Also with the
TV you get two pairs of Active Bluetooth 3D glasses, movies play very
well in 3D and look great. I must admit I am not that big a fan of
wearing 3D glasses while watching TV but for a quality movie its worth
it, the TV does have a 3D mode that will convert 2D content to 3D which
kind of works ok but it's no substitution for true 3D content.
Samsung
have an app store as part of the Smart TV features. There is BBC
iPlayer, ITV Player, Netflix, LoveFilm and lots of other apps including
Skype, BBC News and social apps. One thing I have noticed is that many
of the things I use my HTPC for are taken care of by the TV apps. So the
Smart TV is certainly reducing the need for a PC connected to the TV
but that is probably worth a post in its own right. There is a camera
built in to the TV which can used for taking photos from the TV (not
exactly sure why you would want to do that) and for Skype.
Also
built in to the TV is a DLNA/UPNP client (Samsung AllShare), I was able
to take pictures on my Nexus 4 and send them straight to the TV using
Twonky Beam. You can also pull content from a DLNA server, I had no
problem browsing my servers and watching videos stored on a Windows
machine on the TV. You could also plug a USB drive into the TV and watch
it without needing a PC.
While I was at CES last month Samsung
announced the Series 9 range of LED TVs which have a new UI, fortunately
Samsung will be releasing an Evolution kit bringing the 9 series
features to the 8 series. There are no price details yet but it's good
to know the newly purchased TV is not completed out of date.
So here is my video review of the Samsung Series 8 55" TV (UE55ES8000)
SmartReview.com previewed Sony's latest TV technology at CES 2013. Sony
is going full steam ahead into the 4K TV arena. They are introducing a
new XBR line of 4K TVs in 84-inch, 65-inch, and 55-inch sizes. Sony is
starting to master content in 4K, as it has already done for movie
theaters. Another new technology is Triluminous (which will increase
colors),and will be introduced into its regular line of HDTVs. Sony
also has the largest OLED 4K TV, in which a prototype was shown at CES
2013.
